2. Ion flow velocity measurement in an ECR plasma using laser-induced fluorescence method

Instructors Dr. Shinji Yoshimura

HYPER-I (Hyper One) is a linear device for researchers and graduate students to perform basic plasma experiments. In this topic, you will measure argon ion flow velocity in an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) plasma produced by HYPER-I using the laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) method, where the light source is a narrow bandwidth tunable diode laser. We plan to investigate how ion velocities in the direction of the magnetic field lines change with varying gas pressure, microwave power, and magnetic field coordination.
