4. Anomaly detection of radiative collapse in LHD plasma

Instructors Dr. Kiyofumi Mukai, Dr. Minoru Kusaba, Dr. Naoki Kenmochi, Dr. Mamoru Shoji, Prof. Masayuki Yokoyama

Radiative collapse is a phenomenon that the plasma suddenly terminates with strong radiation and that occurs when the plasma density is increased. In order to maintain a stable plasma in nuclear fusion power plants, it is necessary to detect the precursors (= anomalies) of radiative collapse and to control to avoid the collapse. In this project, we will use the database of the Large Helical Device (LHD) to develop and consider a program that can detect anomalies with higher accuracy.
