2. Experiment of highly charged ion spectroscopy using electron beam ion trap

Instructors Dr. Hiroyuki Sakaue, Prof. Izumi Murakami, Dr. Daiji Kato

The emission spectrum data of highly ionized ions, which is considered to exist in high temperature plasmas are intensively studied all over the world. In this topic, we generate and trap highly charged ions, especially tungsten ions, using a special device called Electron Beam Ion Trap (CoBIT) and measure the line spectrum of their emitted light. We also analyze the measured emission spectrum using an atomic process model of highly charged ions.
