3. Evaluation of millimeter wave transmission components for electron cyclotron heating

Instructors Dr. Toru Tsujimura, Dr. Yasuo Yoshimura, Dr. Shuji Kamio

Electron cyclotron (EC) heating using millimeter wave is one of the heating methods of the LHD plasma. The millimeter wave is transmitted from an oscillator to the plasma. Realizing appropriate direction and polarization of the millimeter wave are necessary for obtaining higher heating efficiency. The transmission line of the millimeter wave consists of a waveguide, antennas, and polarizers. In this topic, we will evaluate the characteristics of the transmission components used in the LHD and/or newly developed components.
