7. Introduction to Monte Carlo simulations of plasma transport *Online

Instructors Dr. Ryutaro Kanno

Collisional transport phenomena of toroidal plasma are studied by computer simulations solving the drift-kinetic equation. Monte Carlo methods, which are based on probability theory, are frequently applied to the transport simulations. In this course, mathematical foundations of the Monte Carlo methods are discussed. Several computer programs will be available for practice in the methods.
This topic will be carried out though the online system, such as Zoom. The necessary conditions for attending this topic are that you have your own PC, and that you installed Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, or Microsoft Office-compatible software to your computer.
