HYPER-I (Hyper One) is a linear device that can produce high-density plasmas and is an experimental device on which researchers and graduate students conduct basic plasma experiments. In this topic, you will measure ion velocity distribution functions using the laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) method, where the light source is a narrow bandwidth tunable diode laser. Velocity distribution functions provide important information on ion temperature and ion flow.
